TITLE OF PATOU,
PYRENEES MOUNTAIN DOG
CH.CS. : French Standard Conformity Champion.
CH.IB. : International Beauty Champion.
Advice for choosing the breeder but especially the parents of your future companion.
The title of CH.CS. is magnificent but given how for years I was able to observe the shenanigans during the breeding nationals and the French championship, for me, this title does not have much exceptional value.
With the title of CH.IB, we have chosen to confront our Pyrenees Mountain dogs in these border countries. (Spain, Italy, Monaco) where competition is present and the kilometers remain accessible.
Then each country has its Beauty Champion titles, more or less difficult and long to obtain, sometimes it's a gamble in one go, sometimes in several 1sts. prize under several different judges....
THEdiploma title of World Cup Winner does not correspond to the title of “World Champion”! This title does not exist!!!! Moreover, he is not marked on the SCC pedigrees. !!!! And obtain a World Champion title without any competition in your class, yes, yes I have seen judging with only one dog present…. And so, even sometimes ugly a dog can become pseudo “world champion” especially since now there is veteran, young, baby, puppy, adult etc…. In short, each class has its world champion! What to think of these exhibitors who cross countries to go to this FCI competition which takes place each year in a different country, but which for the majority of the time hardly brings back quality dogs, but only owners loaded with money! !!! ???? I absolutely do not condone these poor judgments.
For me, a world championship must bring together at least fifty Patou dogs, otherwise it is worthless!!!! Finally, it is better to obtain a ranking for your dog in the first 6 of its very numerous class than a 1st prize in a very isolated world championship where there will not even be ten dogs in all categories!
Remember that a quality marriage between two dogs can only come from parents at least Recommended and better Elite A or B!
Remember that it is better to have a healthy dog in the future, you should be concerned to see the title of Dysplasia A – No sign of dysplasia – on the parents and a lot on the ancestors!
Also remember that it is very important to have DNA health analyzes including degenerative myelopathy (DM), which is very present in the breed. Avoid any litter whose parents or one of them does not have these health tests! To do this, you can view the best litters in France on the site of the breed club with the central canine society by only selecting litters which have a high figure for the quotations (automatically eliminate litters of which one of the parents will only be notified in quotation 1), I do not call its producer a breeder breeder of quality! Never lose sight of the health of the parents and their lines, it is your only guarantee of having a maximum chance of having a beautiful, healthy patou. Agree to travel a few hundred kilometers more to live happily for a dozen years, it is better to prioritize the health of your future companion, plus a short weekend in my region in Provence can be really nice!
If exhibitions are important for all breeds, it is above all about having fun, seeing other dogs, avoiding miles for not much in the end, being judged by a judge specializing in the breed connoisseur is a very important point, select the exhibition, select the judge, because unfortunately some of them are terribly lacking in knowledge for our Lord of the Mountains with the Pyrenean expression, the hook at the tail and many other typical details on the breed, select the breed club shows first, these are important to obtain the quotes. For my part, I have long since fired many judges with poor knowledge for my favorite breed, the Patou. I can advise you privately of course to prevent you from losing money for nothing positive in the end!
